DUCTLESS SYSTEMS

Ductless Systems

Not every home in the Vancouver, WA area has enough space to fit air ducts – but does this mean that you can’t install an HVAC system on your property? Fortunately, even if you don’t have the space needed for a standard central air conditioner, you can still opt for a ductless system.

Installing air ducts can also be an expensive and overwhelming process, and you may prefer to avoid it. If you’re installing a brand-new air conditioning system in your existing property, this doesn’t mean you need to deal with air duct installation. This is another situation when a ductless HVAC system may be the way to go.

Are you interested in having a ductless HVAC system (also known as ductless mini splits) installed in your Vancouver, WA property? For more information, contact KOVA Heating and Cooling about our ductless system repair and installation services. We’re proud to be the Vancouver, WA ductless system experts.

Vancouver, Wa. ‘ Premier Ductless System Experts!

Window units are both inconvenient and inefficient, and they are not the only duct-free HVAC option. Ductless HVAC systems, or ductless mini splits, are a unique option when it comes to indoor heating and cooling. These systems use heat pump technology to either heat or cool your property, depending on the time of year.

When your brand-new ductless HVAC system is installed by a trained professional, you can be confident that it will run for many years to come. At KOVA Heating and Cooling, we expertly handle ductless mini system installation, repairs, and maintenance services.

Ductless Mini Systems Explained!

Ductless mini splits are unique from many other kinds of HVAC systems, including standard heat pumps, central air conditioning, and forced air heaters. While all of these systems need air ducts to function, that isn’t the case for ductless mini splits.

Rather than a central air handler unit, a series of wall-mounted blowers can be installed throughout the property. An outdoor unit will also need to be installed outside the building. Finally, all the indoor blowers are connected to the outdoor unit using conduits housing power, as well as refrigerant lines.

In order to keep your house cool during the summer months, the refrigerant will cycle through the indoor unit before it evaporates. This process will remove heat from the air inside your property. The heat can then travel outside before being dispersed through the outdoor unit.

The process is reversed during the winter months or whenever you’d like to keep your house warm. In this case, the outdoor unit’s coils and the indoor unit’s coils switch responsibilities. This leads the outdoor unit to start absorbing heat from the outside air and compressing the refrigerant. Heat is dispersed within the property, keeping it at a warm and comfortable temperature.

Need A Replacement Ductless System?

No ductless system lasts forever, even if you’re performing routine maintenance and staying on top of repairs. But how do you know when to replace a ductless HVAC system rather than have the issue repaired by a contractor? There are a few common scenarios where it may make more sense to install a new ductless system.

First, consider the current cost of operating your ductless HVAC system. Has the amount of money needed to keep the system running been increasing? If your ductless system is operating less efficiently than it used to, your heating and cooling bills can rise.

You should also take the age of your ductless system into account, as well as how often it breaks down. If you’re performing repairs on a regular basis, the amount you’re spending on these services will quickly add up. Eventually, this cost will exceed the amount you’d pay to have the full system replaced.

If you’ve had your current ductless HVAC system for over 15 years, it could be time to have it replaced. Even a high-quality system will experience wear and tear over the years.
